In the silence she now stands
Naked and bare for all to see
Raped of her beauty by man
Blackened and ugly forever to be

In fear many of her friends did leave
Escaping the fate about to be delivered to some
Sadly she cries in pain for those left behind
That didn't make it and to death did succumb

Once she stood strong, so full of life
Providing a home and to many a safe haven
For the little ones who were in need
Even giving shelter to man now and then

In silence she stands alone, devastated
By an act of man that stripped away her pride
No longer is she proudly dressed in full attire
Now burning and smoldering she is inside

What did she do to deserve this horrific deed
From the careless act of man without a plan
Her life was stolen, taken away within minutes
Forced to endure the fire as quickly as it began

This burning tree, alone and dying, now gives in
No longer able to provide beauty to our land
Her once useful limbs begin to fall to the ground
Raped of her beauty; here in death she does stand
