BABY DOLL ANGEL

She walked swiftly down the sidewalk
Her excitement so hard to contain
It was something she had to do
How would she tell them, how could she explain

She came upon the little store
And glanced into the picture window
Oh thank goodness! It was still there
She hurried inside, she had to let them know

To the counter she quickly went
"Please sir, may I talk to you?" she said
The kindly old gentleman peered over the counter
With an inquisitive look, he scratched his head

"What is it dear child, what is wrong?
Please tell me what it is you wish to say.
Come closer, so I can hear.
What can I do for you today?"

She looked over to the display
"I must have that baby doll there"
She said, pointing to the Little Angel
"I must carry it somewhere."

Reaching deep into her pockets
Gathering together all her change
She placed the coins onto the counter
Offering them for the doll in exchange

The old man looked down on the counter
An assortment of coins were laying there
"Please sir, is that enough?"
"I must have that baby doll, I have to carry it somewhere."

Just as she said that a tear rolled down her cheek
"Sir, my friend is very sick, I went to see her today
I know that she will be going up to heaven soon.
I must take it to her, so she will not be alone all that way."

With tears in his eyes, the man went to the window
He picked up the baby doll and returned to the counter
Placing it gently in the little girls arms he then said,
"Here dear child, I understand, please take it to her."

With a smile she reached up and gave the man a hug
And thanked him for his kindness, then she was gone
She hurried to get to the home of the sick little girl
To give her the Baby Doll Angel so she would not be alone
